Heroes alum Sterling Melville to play at Colgate - 2008-04-03

Sterling Melville

Former Plano West star and Heroes alum Sterling Melville has made an oral commitment to play college basketball at Colgate.

Melville, a 6-5 forward, played last season at New Jersey prep school Hun School of Princeton, where he made two all-tournament teams, including MVP of the Prime Time Shoot Out. As a senior at Plano West in the 2006-07 season, he averaged more than 22 points and eight rebounds. Melville finished his Plano West career as the school's all-time leading scorer and ranked fourth in assists. 

Melville also considered Lafayette College, Monmouth, New Hampshire and Loyola. Colgate, in Hamilton, N.Y., is a member of the Patriot League.

His younger brother, Tyler, 17, is on the 17-under Heroes team. Another brother, Myles, 14, plays for Texas Select.
